Halloween Plaque

What a sweet Halloween design by Jamie Mills-Price. 

I painted this a couple years ago and after much consideration, I decided to put it up for sale.

For those of you who are not familiar with Jamie Mills-Price, she designs holiday and seasonal pictures for us to paint. In art books, she provides the design to copy and then proceeds to instruct on how to paint it.

I love her designs and I've never had one that didn't turn out nice.

When cropping and getting the photo ready, I added a grungy black overlay for a border, which makes it a little "smokey" in some places around the edge...so if you notice this, please know that it is not part of the plaque :)

Here's a closer view...  there is a slight glare on this photo.

It measures 9" x 7" and is 3/4" thick with a beveled edge.

Tart Candles with Jar Labels

Well, I finished printing out the Christmas label, as I said in the previous post, and applied it to the mason jar. Since I had made enough candle tarts to fill 2 jars, I decided I wanted to get a label ready for Thanksgiving. No real design, here, I just took one of the vintage postcards that The Graphics Fairy had on her website and I made a .png image out of it. I added a deep red-orange border around it and then printed it out on craft colored paper.

Candle Jar Label

Today I finished a jar label. Adorable vintage Christmas graphics in vibrant colors. This has a white background, but I am going to print it off on a craft color paper to make the candle jar more country-ish or primitive. For now, I just have the graphic ready...later I'll post a picture of the label applied to the jar and full of candles and country Christmas charm!

Of course, for those of you who follow my blog will know that I've used many of the images for my graphic designs from The Graphics Fairy...www.graphicsfairy.blogspot.com. And this time is no exception. Below, I've added the graphics that I obtained from Karen's (Graphic Fairy).

New Blog Header

Wow...it was so much fun making my new blog header. Started out just 'foolin around' not knowing where the header design would lead. But I just kept going, liked what I was seeing and....Voila! :)

And, I might add, it took a really long time! One of the Halloween graphics I couldn't transfer it to a .png image, so I had to cut away at the background bit-by-bit. Whew!! I also tried a few different techniques AND made a few mistakes which I had to correct...

 And, now that it's done, you see that I added it to my blog already and is also for sale in my Etsy shop.

I also made these into Halloween Gift Tags!

And labels for candle jars!

For the labels, I printed it out on transparent paper....sort of like a vellum paper. I liked the translucent look, as it goes well with the creamy white soy candle. I had once sold candle jars like this without a label, but when it burns it ends up becoming a not-so-attractive jar. Having cute labels makes for a dual purpose because after the candle is gone you can clean it and use it for collections or even Halloween candy. The black metal and rusty lid with tab make it a jar to save!

Sweet Blog and Helpful Tutorials

Who is *iTkUpiLLi* ??

Well, in case you haven't come across iTkUpilli's blog...you are really missing something!!

I don't know how I first stumbled upon her blog, but I sure am glad I did. She is a graphic wiz, it seems, and has lots and lots of tutorials and "free stuff" to make anyone's blog look sweeter!! This is where I got my background for my blog and a couple of size-bar graphics including the one to your, immediate, right ~ 'Keep Calm and Blog On'.

The latest thing that I learned to do, by following one of her tutorials, is how to frame one of my hang tag graphics ~ see below. I was even able to download a couple of frames for free, that she created. Mine is a little hard to distinguish because the color of her frame and the color of my graphic is almost the same...but this was an experiment. It would look much better if I had used a real photo.
