New Product!

I'm really excited to offer the, ever popular, seam binding in my Etsy shop! To make it even more special, I've taken a wooden spool, stained it and adhered a French / Paris sticker to the top and bottom, then added the hang tag. Then, when your seam binding is gone, you'll have the spool to use for other things...even for a little decoration :)

This listing is for 5 yards each of 'Cream' and 'Soft Pink'. You can even purchase it here, or follow the link to my Etsy shop.

New Altered Tag

I have a new category in my Etsy shop, titled, God is Good and have been creating a lot of altered art with this theme in mind. The background for this tag is a photo that I took while on vacation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. In fact, I have another post about it where I showed these photos.

This photo turned out so beautiful, and even with my cheap digital camera :) We were so close to the deer, I snapped this as we were driving down the dirt road that leads through Cade's Cove. The deer peeking around the tree is a real gem! It had such a serene feel about it that I thought I would make it even more celestial :) So I created more brightness coming down the left, top, and through to the center of the photo to illustrate God's light. I used Photoshop and if you're unfamiliar with how to do this, you use the 'dodge' tool. Then I brightened up the outer edges to make the forestry really pop, by using the 'burn' tool.

The Bible verse seemed fitting, to me, as the picture depicts nature at it's finest. Then, I thought how nice it would be to show even more of God's beautiful creations and make it into a real, Garden of Eden.

To create this, I brought in some graphics that were bright and vivid. I, of course, found all these lovely graphics from The Graphics Fairy. I just love the pink rose that Karen shared with us a few weeks ago and have already used it several times in my art work. Since I had all this brightness around the sides and bottom, the top left seemed too light behind the text, so, I brought in a crown (from The Graphics Fairy) and made it in grayscale and put it behind the text...this would be Jesus' crown, of course.

This Bible verse is referring to when Jesus comes back again. But I like to let it, also, remind me that even when we are praying for healing, whether it be a healing for our body, relationships, business or anything else we are praying for, Jesus even makes THOSE things new again. The God that created every single cell in our body can restore it to wholeness again, if it is weak. The God that places such importance on family can heal your marriage and make it new again. And if you're in financial difficulty, He can restore what the enemy has taken away. All you have to do is ask!

I hope this has helped someone, today!

...Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.  Phillippians 4:8

Blessings to you, on this Memorial Day!!

His Eye Is On The Sparrow!

Pssst!! ~ See below, for a GIVEAWAY! Read all the way through this post.

As I was thinking of a new design for a hang tag, the sentence "His eye is on the sparrow" came to me. I believe this is the title or lyrics of part of a song.

I began to look for some graphics and found some from Karen, at The Graphics Fairy. I found all the perfect elements that I would need for the new tag. I found the bird graphic, here and the frame, here. The background is also from Karen's website, but could not find it again to give you the link.

This is how I created the tag:
I set the background, of course, then I brought in the frame and embossed it....all with Photoshop program. I brought in the bird graphic, found the perfect Bible scripture and then colorized the whole tag. I love how it turned out!

~THE NAME~

Prim Perfection is the name of my shop on Etsy and eBay. So, where does the name, Prim Perfection, come from...you may ask? And...actually, no one has really asked me that question before, but when I tell people the name of my shop they give me a blank or inquisitive stare, lol. I assume others that visit my shop might be wondering the same thing. So, I decided to do a little splainin'...

I first have to preface this with telling you that my shop (including the name) and genre have gone through many different phases over the years, as well as, the designs of my banners...

I have 2 styles of crafting/designing that I like which are polar opposites. Shabby chic and primitive/country. About a year and a half ago, I started making hand painted wood signs. The kind that are heavily distressed with a lot of flogging, chipping and sanding. And, of course, when a person lists their items on eBay or Etsy they have to write a description. Sellers were always describing their primitive wares, as "distressed to...prim perfection!" This phrase really caught on with me, so to speak, and I was always putting this into my descriptions, as well. So, hence, I thought it would be a cute name...and, changed the name of my shop.

Being a person that always analyzes things, to a fault, I thought that people might think that I was being "braggy" and implying that I think that I am perfect. Lol. Which is totally not the case! I'm a little more modest than that! So I redesigned my banner and hung the crown on a flourish to make it look like it had fallen off....thereby, implying that, while the name of my shop has the work perfect in it...I am a not-so-perfect person :)

And, of course, the lovely graphics of the crown, roses and the little blue bird that sits atop the letter "P" are from Karen at The Graphics Fairy.

P.S., you can visit my Etsy shop, here, where you'll find lots of shabby chic and French inspired graphic designs. Oh, and leave a comment, if you like!
