New Blog Header

Wow...it was so much fun making my new blog header. Started out just 'foolin around' not knowing where the header design would lead. But I just kept going, liked what I was seeing and....Voila! :)

And, I might add, it took a really long time! One of the Halloween graphics I couldn't transfer it to a .png image, so I had to cut away at the background bit-by-bit. Whew!! I also tried a few different techniques AND made a few mistakes which I had to correct...

 And, now that it's done, you see that I added it to my blog already and is also for sale in my Etsy shop.

I also made these into Halloween Gift Tags!

And labels for candle jars!

For the labels, I printed it out on transparent paper....sort of like a vellum paper. I liked the translucent look, as it goes well with the creamy white soy candle. I had once sold candle jars like this without a label, but when it burns it ends up becoming a not-so-attractive jar. Having cute labels makes for a dual purpose because after the candle is gone you can clean it and use it for collections or even Halloween candy. The black metal and rusty lid with tab make it a jar to save!

Sweet Blog and Helpful Tutorials

Who is *iTkUpiLLi* ??

Well, in case you haven't come across iTkUpilli's blog...you are really missing something!!

I don't know how I first stumbled upon her blog, but I sure am glad I did. She is a graphic wiz, it seems, and has lots and lots of tutorials and "free stuff" to make anyone's blog look sweeter!! This is where I got my background for my blog and a couple of size-bar graphics including the one to your, immediate, right ~ 'Keep Calm and Blog On'.

The latest thing that I learned to do, by following one of her tutorials, is how to frame one of my hang tag graphics ~ see below. I was even able to download a couple of frames for free, that she created. Mine is a little hard to distinguish because the color of her frame and the color of my graphic is almost the same...but this was an experiment. It would look much better if I had used a real photo.

Halloween Banner for Etsy

Here is a sweet vintage style Banner for an Etsy shop. Lot's of shop owners like to change things around a bit during the holidays, so I decided to make a banner for Halloween. I'm working on more as we speak. These of course will be available on my own Etsy shop, which you can get to by clicking the button to your right.

Scardy Cat

I could hardly wait to get this new tag posted. I've been holding this vintage graphic from The Graphics Fairy for so long, just waiting to create something from it.

Soon, I will get this printed and trimmed into a gift tag for Halloween. I'll add a grungy, crinkled seam binding ribbon for tying...which I think will make the appeal even better.

Halloween Tags

Wow, it's been many weeks since I posted on my blog! Glad to be back in the swing of things.

I just finished these Halloween gift tags. They were so fun to make...I'm also sharing these on "Brag Monday" at The Graphics Fairy Blog!!  www.graphicsfairy.blogspot.com

All of the vintage graphics I obtained from Karen's (Graphic Fairy) blog. I've been wanting to create something from this adorable Ellen Clapsaddle Halloween postcard for a while. The original vintage graphic was in vivid color, but I decided to make it black and white for this tag. I made it into a png image so that I could put a different background to it....I am very pleased how it turned out. I also antiqued the edges of the picture itself with brown stampers ink and pasted it on an orange, pearl cardstock.

The other tag with the crow, (graphics also obtained from The Graphics Fairy), I made into png files and assembled them into a neat design. The crow has a drop shadow to make it stand out.

The tags measure 2" x 2-3/4" and have a generous 8-1/2" double, black cotton string to tie onto your package.

These are going to be available in my Etsy shop very soon, but you can purchase it right here, as well!
